Widnes sign Young Cheshire Opening bowler Aaron Soni from Warrington!

Widnes Cricket Club are pleased to announce the signing of Young Seam bowler from Warrington C.C. We sat down with Aaron for a quick chat shortly after signing for the club.

Aaron can you please tell me your initial thoughts after signing for the club?
I’m happy with my move to Widnes as its a club with an attitude to play hard, fair and positive cricket. I’m excited to represent Widnes and play in the premiership division.

What was the reason you decided upon a move to Widnes?
I have decided to move to Widnes because it’s a club with a lot of progression. After last years promotion it is evident the determination of the Widnes 1st XI was exceptional. I want to learn, play and contribute to such a successful club. I see opportunity to learn and succeed at Widnes so it has been my first choice.

For some of our members who may not know who you are yet, can you please give them an insight as to exactly what you will bring to the club?
I’m an right handed opening bowler who has experience of representing Cheshire for 7 years. Im also a right handed batsmen who looks to contribute at the back end of an innings. My best bowling figures for Cheshire are 10 overs 4-19 against Lancashire. I have also scored 6 county fifties with my highest score of 84* at Ampelforth. I’m a team player who thrives under pressure and enjoys a contest.

What are you most looking forward to at Widnes?
Playing for Widnes in the Premier League will be a challenge. However it is also a chance to test my ability. Widnes can offer me support and guidance so that my skills are developed in an intense and demanding league. The experience will also help me in my last year for the county junior set up in 2019.

Do you have a message for our members?
I’d like to thank Widnes for giving me this opportunity. It’s very appreciated and hopefully we can be successful again next season.
