Widnes Fall Short in Tight Opener
By Tom Evans
Widnes were unlucky after fightback to not get over the line!
A blistering opening spell of bowling by Neston Paceman Ash Davies at one point had Widnes 8-4. however a brilliant fightback from all rounders M Majeed (53 from 61 balls) and J Campbell (82 from 102 balls) ably assisted by C kirby left Widnes just short of the Neston Total.
Widnes started well taking the wickets of the dangerous Hurst and Evans, Williams early however a crucial partnership between Camden and Sarvaiya left Widnes frustrated. Camden was struck on the pads several times early on in his innings and Widnes may have been unfortunate to not see the back of him.
Lots of positives to take from this early season performance, however there is also a lot to take note from and the lads will continue their journey next week away to Marple.
